Let me post some updates.
Dates:
Midwest Sevens will be held at the Moose Rugby Grounds in Elkhart on October 31st. I was thinking that this would be primarily a boys event, but we would welcome girls teams as well.
We will hold the Girls Midwest (15s) the following weekend. (Nov. 7-8) This will be held at the Moose Rugby Grounds as well.
New Website:
We have a new website www.mwyouthrugby.com
I will no longer be using bc@midwestyouthrugby.com for email. You can reach me at mwyouthrugby@gmail.com
Thunderbirds:
We hope to have the Boys and Girls Thunderbird programs up and running by August.
USA Rugby:
As all of you know, USA Rugby has filed chapter 11. This does not necessarily mean that they are going away. I would plan on having USA Rugby as our governing body as we move forward. The way they do business will (hopefully) change. The SROs may have to do more. You may have to find your own insurance and you may have to run your own CIPP. This should not be a problem as most Midwest SROs have strong leadership and governance in place.
Donations:
If you feel inclined, please donate to Midwest Youth Rugby. Without a Spring playing season, our revenue is down. While we are in fairly good shape, we still need to pay for a new set of jerseys for the Girls Thunderbirds. You can donate by going to the website www.mwyouthrugby.com. Just click on the Donate to Youth Rugby link on the right-hand side of the page.
